Technology
One ecosystem. Multiple technologies.
We are technology agnostic. We select the right technology for the project, never the other way around.
System architecture
A LAYERED ARCHITECTURE
YOU CAN GROW WITH.
People interact with one experience. Behind it, the Fortue Intelligence layer integrates the protocols and systems each project needs, so lighting, climate, security, AV and energy work together.

Protocols we integrate
Open standards first.
Open protocols protect your investment: more choice of devices, easier servicing and no lock-in to a single manufacturer.
| KNX | Open, wired standard (ISO/IEC 14543) for lighting, shading, HVAC and more. Our first choice for new-build villas and buildings that need long-term reliability and vendor independence. |
|---|---|
| DALI / DALI-2 | Digital lighting control standard (IEC 62386) for addressable dimming, tunable white and emergency lighting in residential, commercial and hospitality spaces. |
| BACnet | Building automation protocol (ISO 16484-5) widely used for HVAC plant, chillers and BMS supervision in commercial and mixed-use buildings. |
| Modbus | Simple, widely supported industrial protocol for meters, pumps, generators and plant equipment. |
| Matter | Connectivity standard from the Connectivity Standards Alliance that lets certified devices work across major smart-home ecosystems. |
| Zigbee | Low-power wireless mesh for sensors, switches and retrofit lighting. Ideal where new cabling is impractical. |
| Z-Wave | Sub-GHz wireless mesh for locks, sensors and retrofit devices, with a long history in residential automation. |
| MQTT | Lightweight publish/subscribe messaging used to move data between systems, gateways and cloud or on-premise analytics. |
KNX
KNX-based home and building automation.
KNX is an open, international standard for home and building control. Fortue designs, programs and integrates KNX-based systems for villas, residences, offices and hospitality projects, often alongside DALI lighting, BACnet plant and certified wireless devices.
A KNX installation is engineered as a documented system, so it can be serviced, extended and handed over with confidence.
Lighting
Switching, dimming, scenes and tunable white, with DALI integration where needed.
HVAC
Room-by-room climate control, schedules and setpoint limits.
Blinds and curtains
Motorised shading linked to scenes, time and daylight.
Energy
Metering and load control that make consumption visible.
Security integration
Alarm, access and intercom status linked to lighting and modes.
Building control
Central supervision and integration with BACnet and Modbus plant.
How we choose
Selection principles
Reliability first
Wired backbones for critical functions, wireless where it adds flexibility, with every system still usable when the internet is down.
Open & scalable
Architectures that can grow room by room, floor by floor or building by building without starting over.
Serviceable
Labelled panels, documented programming and remote diagnostics so issues are resolved quickly.
Secure by design
Segmented networks, secure remote access and managed firmware to reduce cyber risk.
Efficient
Presence, daylight and schedule logic that cuts energy use without compromising comfort.
Human
Interfaces designed for the people who live and work in the space, not for the installer.

Fortue Intelligence
The layer that ties it together.
Unified control, monitoring, automation and analytics in one interface for every system in the space.
Questions
KNX and technology questions
What is KNX?
KNX is an open, international standard (ISO/IEC 14543) for home and building control. Devices from many manufacturers communicate over a dedicated bus, which makes KNX a dependable choice for lighting, HVAC, blinds, energy and security integration in villas and buildings.
Should I choose KNX or a wireless system?
KNX suits new builds and major renovations where a dedicated control cable can be installed and long term reliability matters most. Certified wireless technologies such as Zigbee, Z-Wave and Matter suit existing homes and apartments where new cabling is impractical. Many projects combine both.
Can KNX work with other systems?
Yes. Through gateways and integration, KNX can work with DALI lighting, BACnet and Modbus plant, Matter devices, audio and video systems, and a central interface such as Fortue Intelligence.
